Awesome! July 28, 2008 I replaced my wimpy Civic horns with these and I am very happy with them! They are much louder and demand attention!! Great price too.
PIAA 85110 115dB 400 Hz + 500 Hz Sports Horn September 17, 2008 This purchase took me about 15-20 mins. to install. You do need some basic electrical wiring knowledge to put in these two horns or you will be buying a bunch of new fuses. The first horn was easy to install. I just took out the old one and installed the new one just like the old one. Simple. The second horn that comes with this package is a little more difficult to try to figure out where to put it and wiring the two in parallel. The directions that come in the package make it look so easy to put in your car but it's not that easy. I have a little bit of mechanical/electrical knowledge so I pretty much knew what I was doing after I saw what came in the box. For your average Joe out there, it might take you a little more than 15 minutes. But once I got the two horns installed properly, I had to see how they sounded... Well, they're nothing spectacular but they do sound loud and they will be heard. That's for sure. If you want a comparison, I would say it sounds almost exactly like a crown victoria or a chevy malibu horn. Decent. It was worth the money spent. I use my horn on the regular and I'm definitely glad I bought it. Especially when I recently made a trip to Manhattan... The main reason I decided to buy this product was because my old horn was pathetic and embarassing. I was getting cut off left and right by other drivers and I couldn't even get noticed if i decided to blow the horn. Well, those days are over. Other that, great product. I would recommend anybody with a dead or dying horn to go ahead and spend a little money on this one :)
More (and less) than I expected. January 9, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
After having my lane space invaded one too many times, I decided to get this puppy for my motorcycle, the price seemed right and the manufacturer was well-known.
When it arrived, I was surprised that it consisted of *2* horns, not one, and that it didn't, in that case, include a relay.
So, after some amount of grief trooping around the usual parts stores (Kragen, Autozone, Napa), trying to find a relay that could be bolted to the inner fairing, installation was completed.
If success is defined by getting attention, then it worked. On the freeway, a gal driving some hopped-up something or other just decided to move into my lane, no signal, no head-turn, no lookee in mirror. One brief 'parp' on the horn, which would previously either have not been heard at all, or at most, rewarded with a snarl of derision, appeared to cause an acute panic attack, accompanied by 'mucho swervo'.
I think she never figured out that it was the *motorcycle* that was making that noise.
On balance, then, great fun. But don't think that these horns are going to make you sound like a semi truck, though.
HONK > squeek April 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I purchased my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, I was devastated to find out that I was stuck with a bicycle horn... or so I thought.
The sound emitted by this item is quite impressive when compared to my old squeek toy of a horn. Cars come with a dual horn set-up, each with a different sound frequency. Mine were located directly in the center of the hood and the second was in front of the passenger side wheel well. The first installation took less than an hour (there were 2 installations, I'll explain later) and the sound produced is well suited for my car. It's not a glass shattering train horn, but it easily gets the attention of the people who think turn signals should be optional.
Unfortunately, the instructions that came with the item weren't exactly flawless. I didn't know that the 400HZ horn should have been mounted in place of the center horn. After the first installation, I drove my car for a test honk and I realized that the horn sounded like it was projecting the sound to the right of my car, rather than directly in front of me. Switched their places and, voila, problem solved.
Because of the above issue, it doesn't net it the full perfect 5 star rating and I can't leave 4.5 stars, so 4 will have to do. Nonetheless, if you need a horn that will make your presence known all the while keeping it street legal, this is definately something you should honk at.
