Thanks to HP Vivera inks and a print resolution of up to 1200 dpi black and 4800 x 1200 dpi color, all your prints--from text documents to colorful presentation--will be sharp and clear. Fast, too! The C4480 offers print and copy speeds up to 30 ppm black and up to 23 ppm color. By adding HP's optional 6-ink photo cartridge, you can produce lab-quality photos as well. A 4 x 6-inch photo will be ready in a mere 25 seconds. Thanks to a built-in memory card reader and a 1.5-inch color display, you can easily print photos without a PC; simply insert the memory card and make sure everything looks okay on the LCD screen. The C4480 can handle a variety of print media including plain, inkjet, and photo papers, envelopes, transparencies, labels, cards, iron-on transfers, borderless media, and panoramic paper up to 8.5 x 24-inches. It can also produce a borderless print up to 8.5 x 11 inches. When you are using different types of media, you can be assured of optimal results thanks to the printer's automatic paper-type sensor. The input tray has a 100-sheet capacity for letter/legal paper, and can hold up to 20 sheets of transparencies, labels, 4 x 6 photos, photo paper, cards, and up to 10 envelopes. The C4480 produces copies at the same high-quality output and fast speed as it does prints. You can reduce and enlarge from 50 to 400 percent of the original, and make up to 50 copies at one time.

I read the reviews on different printers for quite a few months now and decided to break down and buy the HP Photosmart 4480. I was worried that the photo prints would not be good but I was wrong. The first picture I printed was like getting a professional print. I then found I could not get the same quality of prints there after. The pictures were "pixelly" and not good quality. I messed with the settings and came up with the perfect combination that I was getting professional quality prints again. I must have printed more than 20 photos and have not even used half the color ink and hardly any black ink. I bought extra ink in case the printer used a lot of ink during photo printing and it's still in the box and I am still a printing fool. I am totally happy with this printer and would say to anyone looking for a decent printer at a reasonable price, consider this one.

I've Had this printer over a year now, and for its price this is the best printer out there. I copy pages all the time and also print all my pictures off of it from my digital camera and its great! love it!

Yes, I would have loved to purchase a more advanced, particularly wireless, printer/scanner/copier, but pricewise this was not an option for me...maybe later. I am extremely pleased with the product output and speed, the quality of scans - images later produced from them were exceptional, and the ability to insert media cards into this HP PhotoSmart C4480 machine. PhotoSmart products are the way to go at the moment and based on numerous reviews in top PC magazines these often rank rather highly in comparison to other similar products. The little LCD preview/guide screen is...little, but satisfactory, particularly for the price. I definitely got a quality product for what I paid for and have not had the troubles of paper jams or negative issues mentioned in the other reviewers testimonials. As with all inkjets, the only negative is the cost of replacement cartridges. Based on personal experience with a previous, rather old HP inkjet printer (lasted 7 yrs!!! - impressive as it too was a cheaper model that performed extremely well for the first 6 yrs and when I had no choice to go with Windows Vista - ugh - due to an older computer literally dying on me - sad), I will NEVER use refilled or those cartridges from other vendors. HP inkjet cartridges are the best, but are way too expensive for what I am sure they really cost. Wish there was a way to encourage HP to decrease the cost of cartridges - if so, I am sure more people would purchase HP inkjet/laser jet products in abundance. Until then, we HP lovers have to suffer these costs...so buy the cartridges from Amazon and in the size with extra ink for savings. It is worth it.
Oh - I forgot to mention - this is an extremely lightweight multi-use printer, so even though I didn't go wireless, I am able to move it to wherever I am working in the house. And it was easy to set-up - directions were clear IMHO.

Purchased the printer for a home office location with little room. It looks great closed, it works great open. Talks to my mac and a remote mac quite well.
HP 4480 All-In-One Printer December 4, 2008
Easy set up with Windows Vista Premium, no issues whatsoever. Prints fine and is fast with text prints. I have not printed photos with this printer so have no review of this function. Scanner works like it should. Great all in one for the price.
